OptiLayer AI is an intelligent agent that automates the design, optimization, and analysis of thin-film optical coatings — completing in seconds work that previously took hours. It brings together design, characterization, and production control in a single solution, combining neural networks trained on tens of thousands of real coating designs with the classical thin-film optics algorithms that OptiLayer has been developing for decades.

What the agent does

  • Automated design. Specify your target spectral characteristics and the agent finds the optimal multilayer structure, taking all constraints into account.
  • Instant optimization. Layer thicknesses and materials are optimized in real time for the best possible match to the target spectra.
  • Analysis and characterization. Optical constants are determined automatically from experimental transmittance and reflectance data.
  • Reverse engineering. Parameters of a deposited coating are reconstructed from post-production measurements for quality control.
  • Manufacturing tolerance. Sensitivity to deposition errors is analysed automatically, with recommendations on how to make the design more robust.
  • Natural language interface. You work with the agent in plain English — for example: “Design an anti-reflective coating for the 400–700 nm range.”

How it works

The path from a task description to a complete coating design takes four
steps:

  1. Describe your task — target spectral characteristics, substrate materials, and operating conditions.
  2. The agent generates a design — thousands of configurations are analysed to find the optimal coating structure.
  3. Fine-tuning — iterative optimization that accounts for manufacturing constraints and tolerances.
  4. Export the results — complete documentation, including the deposition recipe, spectral plots, and tolerance analysis.
